Viral trends that followed us into 2020

2020 is halfway over, let's look back at some of the social media trends from 2019 that followed us into 2020!

1. Boba Everything!

Bubble tea has been around for decades and over the past years, the BBT craze is back again with people putting boba in everything they can think of.

2. Salted Egg Yolk Anything!

Just when we thought this trend is dying, it made its comeback when McDonald launched it salted egg yolk fries and Ikea, adding a twist to their classic chicken wings.

3. Mala Anything!

Setting our hearts and tougues on fire, Mala is next to dominate the food scene. Playmade even created a mala boba pearl to go with its drinks!

4. Mukbang

Mukbang, which means “eating broadcasts”, is usually filmed with a host eating and interacting with the audience.

Made popular in Korea in 2010, it is now adopted by YouTubers across the world.

One of the most peculiar trends of this century is ASMR, and it looks like it is set to stay.

ASMR can make one feel either relaxed or just annoyed. Which one are you?

6. Hypebeast Evrything

Hypebeasts and hypebaes are definitely here to stay, looking at how people are willing to splurge on streetwear brands like Supreme, Off-White and Anti Social Social Club.

7. TikTok

TikTok is the latest social network trend in Singapore, especially since the circuit breaker period where everyone has nothing to do at home.

TikTok is a video-sharing platform to create short-form videos, from lip-syncing to dancing and makeup transformations.

Which of the trends are you aware of? Or did we miss out any other trends?
